Join Slow Food Seacoast for a night of good community, great flavor and literary fun!

New England Food Writer’s Night

Sunday April 22 from 5:00 – 8:30pm,

STREET Restaurant, 801 Islington St in Portsmouth

The evening’s fundraiser will highlight the best of New England food writing over the course of the last year. Five local authors will read passages from their books at one of Portsmouth newest, local food restaurants, STREET. The chefs at STREET will prepare and serve special recipes from all the authors’ cookbooks, along with fresh locally harvested oysters, local cocktails, pastries and truffles.

Featured food writers include:

Joe Yonan.  Food Editor of the Washington Post who is spending a year living and writing in Maine and author of  Serve Yourself: Nightly Adventures in Cooking for One.

Kathy Gunst. Author of 14 cookbooks including  Notes from a Maine Kitchen and Resident Chef of Public Radio’s Here & Now.

Amy Traverso Food Editor of Yankee Magazine and author of The Apple Lovers Cookbook.

Erin Murray Author of Shucked – Life on a New England Oyster Farm.

Rachel Forrest Restaurant reviewer of the Portsmouth Herald and author of Maine Classics.

The evening will begin with appetizers and a cash bar featuring a New England Writers Night signature cocktail. As each author reads, guests will savor and sample prepared dishes from recipes in the author’s books. The evening will also highlight an abundance of oysters from the region, and an opportunity to experience a taste of place.

Tickets  are $60 and include food, readings, coffee and dessert. Proceeds from this fundraiser support ongoing educational programs and heirloom seed distribution for Slow Food projects within our community. Tickets are limited so register as soon as possible to reserve a space for what promises to be an incredible evening of food and fun!

RiverRun Book Store  in Portsmouth will offer all books for advanced sale; books will  also be available for signing on the night of the event.
