Join the Piscataqua Seed Project for a Seed Packing Party!
We’ve got all our seed cleaned and ready for 2020 so now it’s time to package it up for distribution to local garden lovers! Join us for an afternoon of learning, packing and community. We will include discussions on how to grow and save the different varieties we are offering.
We will be meeting at Stoodley’s Tavern at Strawbery Banke Museum. Parking is available in the main lot.
COST: Donations to The Piscataqua Seed Project will be gratefully accepted. Your RSVP through Seacoast Permaculture helps us with planning.

Join Slow Food Seacoast for a potluck and open meeting on Sunday March 8, 4pm – 7pm at Squamscott Winery’s new Tasting Room, 70 Route 108 in Newfields NH. It’s been a while since we gathered to talk about our passion for food. Whether yours be growing your own, supporting local farms, volunteering at the food pantry, teaching cooking classes or composting, come share it with us. All are welcome.
Bring a dish to share that feeds 8 – 10 people and your own dining kit. After our meal which begins at 4:30, we’ll share what’s been growing over the past year and the upcoming events and programs for 2020. Come eat and mingle with fellow Slow Foodies!

Join Executive Chef Brendan Levin to learn All About the Fish on Wednesday, March 18. from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Lure Bar + Kitchen in Portsmouth. During this interactive class, Chef Brendan and General Manager Meredith Mineo will share their knowledge about selecting, sourcing, storing, prepping and preparing fish, both raw and cooked, all while serving up a tasty meal.
The small class format of a dozen people gives everyone the chance to participate and enjoy the evening in a more meaningful way. Questions and conversations are highly encouraged as your participation creates an even better learning experience. The exact menu will be determined by what is fresh and in season that week.

Every Wednesday, Lure hosts special events including pairings, guest chef pop-ups, special off-menus, and cooking & cocktail classes and at least one Wednesday a month is dedicated to supporting a local non-profit. The Seed Swap and Food Share is part of the Slow Food Northeast Gathering happening March 20 – 21 at UNH. Friday 3/20, everyone is invited to join with conference attendees for a seed and food swap! The swap will focus on the Slow Food USA Ark of Taste products but any seed, jam or other items from your garden or your local farm are welcome.
Time to share the foods of our region! Got some gilfeather turnips to share? How about some sea salt from Cape Cod? What about some Jacob’s Cattle beans you’ve been growing out that you’d like to share with the network? Wanna share sips of your shrub or switchel? Bring it! Share it!

Celebrate Sustainable Fisheries!
Slow Food Seacoast in partnership with Slow Fish North America and Throwback Brewery, presents a day of fish-themed tastings, activities and workshops. It’s Fishtival! Bring the whole family and experience the taste of the sea prepared by some of the Seacoast’s top chefs. Tasting include both food and beverage selections; full pours and meals available in the restaurant.
Get educated! In addition to tastings, chefs will be offering workshops focused on seafood preparation and several area organizations will be sharing learning activities. A series of mini-talks co-mingled with music will be happening throughout the afternoon.
Tickets are $20/ adult, $15 Youth and children 12 and under are free. Interactive workshops are an additional investment of $25.
Please be aware that many of the activities are outside under tents so be prepared with proper footwear and weather appropriate clothing!
